In the applicant's words:
'It is necessary to remove the identified length of hedge in order for improvements to be made to the existing drainage ditch. Unfortunately, there has been little or no maintenance to either the ditch or hedge for many decades. It is our client's intention to improve the existing drainage ditch and in doing so, retain wherever possible, parts of the hedge that are not impacted upon. Following completion of the drainage works the resultant gaps within the hedgerow will be replanted on the eastern side with mixed native species such as Hazel, Field Maple, Hawthorn, Crab Apple and Dogwood.' |
