ProposalApplication for works to trees on the frontage of 7 Dam Gate, which are within Group One of Holbeach TPO No.2,1959. 1.Oak and beech adjacent to the entrance driveway. a.Crown lift over driveway to give clearance to delivery vans and overhead cables. b.Crown lift over garden to give 2.0 metres clearance. 2.Oak adjacent to entrance driveway. Two pendulous branches on the eastern side of the tree. a. Northern branch, prune (to an existing growth point)leaving approximately 0.75 centimetres from the upper 'V', which will remove the really pendulous part of the branch and the cracked one. b. Other pendulous branch to the south of the previous one, cut back to about 1.0 metre from divide at the top part of the branch, to an existing growth point. 3. Lime tree on southern boundary belonging to neighbour. a. Prune epicormic growth from the base. 4. Lime tree immediately adjacent to the road; infected with the decay fungi Kretzschmaria deusta at the base, contains a cavity in the trunk likely to be used by wildlife. Depending on wildlife present: a. Prune to above the cavity to leave some of the lowest branches, yet make the tree less likely to be blown over in strong winds. (keep for the remainder of the year and put some nest boxes on nearby trees to compensate for the future removal of the tree). Next year: b. Remove tree and grind out the stump to help to control the spread of decay fungi to nearby healthy trees. 5. Beech, south-eastern most. a. Minor tip pruning of up to 2.0 metres to existing growth points to give clearance to a young beech tree. (6.Remove any dead wood from all trees.)
