| Proposal | Works to an ash and a sycamore that are located in the garden of 48 Market Street, Long Sutton. The trees are situated adjacent to the eastern boundary of the garden, the ash is in the north eastern corner. Both trees are within Group One of Long Sutton TPO No 26 1998.
The ash tree has been previously pollarded and has re-grown.(subsequent to this application a mound of soil/rubble was removed which was piled against the trunk of the tree, this exposed and damaged some roots which were established in the raised soil). This application is for works to pollard the tree back to sound wood,(in the region of the previous cuts), which will keep crown growth in check, to avoid too much growth above the old pollard cuts and will possibly help to compensate for any stability issues caused by root disturbance until the roots re-establish.
The sycamore tree requires crown lifting and crown cleaning, all rubbing branches, dead branches, duplicate branches, crossing branches to be removed. Tip prune growth beyond the main canopy especially to the north west side of the tree growing towards the ash tree. This should help to make the canopy less dense and may ease shading of the garden. |
