ProposalWorks to a lime tree identified as T24 of Spalding TPO No. 3 1965. (Tag number 2071). The tree is infected in the lower trunk by a species of fungi likely to be Ganoderma resinaceum. This has caused a substantial cavity in the trunk, resulting in an estimated 16-17% of sound wood remaining. Reduce to no lower than 5-6 metres above ground level and allow to regrow. this will bring the tree back to just above the crown junction, but keep it as a feature for many more years. The works are for safety reasons.
