| Proposal | Works to the pine identified as T1 of Spalding TPO. No. 36 1989. In the garden of 2 Churchill Drive, Spalding.
The applicant employed an arborist to inspect the tree, and he 'states that the tree seems to be in good health but leans towards the road.' With reference to the fact that a blue Atlas cedar to the east of the tree had recently been removed thus exposing the tree to the east, the arborist apparently states 'the risk of failure has increased only minimally'.
The applicant therefore still feels that there is a risk of the tree falling on to the road.
The applicant has applied for either removing the tree completely or trimming it down by half.
This Local Planning Authority is NOT in a position to grant consent for the above works to take place with the evidence provided.
In this instance on consideration of the location of the tree and the concerns of the applicant, it has been decided to allow some trimming works to take place. The extent of the trimming works is indicated on the photograph taken on 8th March 2012 which is attached to this decision notice. The tree canopy to be reduced in height and some branches to be selectively reduced from over the road to balance and give clearance to the highway. (The extent of the works to be given permission, are primarily based on visual amenity criteria rather than directly based on any requirements essential for the safety of the tree). |
